In April, Cockroach Labs announced the launch of CockroachDB 2.0 with a west coast launch event held at Mesosphere HQ. This event featured a live demo of the new CockroachDB 2.0 lead by Head of Product at Cockroach Labs, Nate Stewart. Nate's demo showed that Cockroach DB 2.0 was built for startups and multinational companies alike, providing both with major performance improvements.

This night also included a customer testimony from Tierion and how the company is using CockroachDB for its blockchain-based calendar. Glenn Rempe, VPE at Tierion gave an overview of how Tierion is turning blockchain into a global platform for verifying data. He discussed the benefits that CockroachDB provided Tierion, emphasizing the ability to maintain a cross-zone internal blockchain that they could then distribute to thousands of nodes across an independently operated network.

The evening wrapped with a tutorial on how to run CockroachDB on DC/OS. Joerg Schad, showed how to deploy and manage CockroachDB using sophisticated orchestration tools like Apache Mesos. Joerg also demoed how to deploy CockroachDB on Mesos to ship scalable, resilient applications on any cloud infrastructure.
